Runtimes · Unreal Engine

Animated UI in Unreal Engine.

The EggRuntime plugin adds EggAnimation, a Blueprint type that loads an .egg, plays animations and state machines, takes inputs and pointer events, and draws into a texture for a widget or a material.

In short

In Unreal Engine, add the EggRuntime plugin to your project's Plugins folder. In Blueprint, construct an EggAnimation, Load File, Start State Machine, then each tick Advance and Render into a texture you put on an Image widget or a material.

Questions

Can I use it in UMG widgets?

Yes. Put the rendered texture on an Image brush in a widget.

What can my code change at run time?

State machine inputs (booleans, numbers, triggers), view model properties bound in the file (text, numbers, colours, enums, pictures, lists), and pictures, sounds and fonts handed over by your app. Your code also reads the current state and the events the file reports.

Is the runtime free to use in commercial apps?

Yes. The runtimes are licensed MIT or Apache-2.0, and what you make in the editor is yours.
