Ova Motion is a Lottie alternative for interactive animations. A Lottie file is mainly a timeline exported from After Effects or made in Lottie Creator; an Ova Motion .egg file also carries state machines, pointer and keyboard listeners and view model data bindings, so it reacts on its own and your code only sets inputs and data.
- File
- .egg binary, usually tens of kilobytes
- Interaction
- State machines, pointer, keyboard, gamepad and text input built into the file
- Data
- View models bind text, numbers, colours, lists and pictures
- Made in
- The Ova Motion editor (browser or desktop)
- Exports
- .egg, web page, GIF, MP4, PNG frames, animated SVG
The difference in one picture
With Lottie, your code usually decides what plays: play from frame 0 to 30, then loop 30 to 60 when loading, then jump to 60 on success. With Ova Motion, the designer builds that logic as a state machine in the file. Your code only says loading is true, then success. Change the motion later and the code does not change.

Which one to pick
- Pick Lottie when you have a library of After Effects animations and only need to play them.
- Pick Ova Motion when the animation must react to taps, hovers, keyboard or data, or when designers should own the behaviour without developer changes.
- Need a Lottie-style video export of an Ova Motion scene? Export MP4 or GIF.
